Soft, pillowy, and lightly charred homemade naan bread baked in the oven until golden and brushed with melted butter. The ultimate companion for curries, stews, and grilled meats.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Combine the active dry yeast, sugar, and warm milk in a large bowl, stirring well, and let rest for 3 to 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Whisk the flour and salt into the milk mixture, adding extra flour as needed to prevent sticking, and knead until soft.
  3. Coat the dough lightly with oil, cover with a soft cloth, and let it rest in a warm spot for 2 to 3 hours to rise.
  4. Knead the dough again on a floured surface until smooth, then divide into 4 equal portions and roll each into a round flatbread.
  5. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  6. Transfer the rolled naan rounds onto a foil-lined baking sheet and bake for 30 to 35 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
  7. Brush the warm tops with melted butter, cut into pieces, and serve warm.
