A rich and hearty homemade lasagna layered with savory Bolognese meat sauce, creamy béchamel, lasagna sheets, and melted mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Prepare the Bolognese meat sauce or warm up store-bought pasta sauce.
  2. Prepare the béchamel sauce or ricotta filling, optionally folding in grated Emmental cheese into the béchamel.
  3. Boil the lasagna sheets if required by package instructions, and preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F).
  4. Spread a thin layer of sauce on the bottom of a large, deep baking dish.
  5. Layer with lasagna sheets, béchamel or ricotta, more pasta sheets, and Bolognese sauce, optionally sprinkling finely grated Parmesan over each meat layer.
  6. Repeat the layering until the dish is nearly full, ensuring the top layer consists of béchamel sauce or ricotta.
  7. Grate Parmesan and arrange dry mozzarella slices over the top, then cover the baking dish securely with aluminum foil.
  8. Bake in the center of the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, then remove the foil and continue baking until the cheese top is browned and bubbly.
  9. Remove from the oven, cover loosely with foil, and let rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
